how do you get a press pass for a concert?

I was advised by someone to get a press pass or similar for a concert I'm going to in Manchester UK, in order to take photos because of the type camera I use. This is the first time I will be doing this type of photography and have never done photos in places where there are restrictions on cameras allowed.
I have tried searching under the venue website, but nothing is coming up, any help appreciated.

You could offer to cover the concert for a local newspaper and they may get you a press pass. Call any of your local newspapers and ask them, it's worth a try. Or call the venue and tell them you are a freelance music photographer. Good luck!
